“Interesting” Narrative——Appreciating Xiao Su’s Contemporary Novels and Folk Narrative

晓苏的《当代小说与民间叙事》一书,以中国当代小说中运用民间化叙事策略的作品为研究对象,从叙事立场、叙事视角、叙事结构和叙事语言四个维度分析了民间化叙事的基本特征,论证了民间化叙事是使小说获得'意思'和'可读性'的关键因素。该书的创新之处可以归纳为以下三点:一是揭示了民间化叙事的意趣性;二是充分体现了民间化叙事研究的体系性;三是以民间化叙事为基点,重新思考文学史的基本问题,对'重构文学史'具有重大的启示性。

The book of Contemporary Novel and Folk Narrative is a study of Chinese contemporary novels using folk narrative tactics.Xiao Su analyzed the basic characteristics of folk narrative from four dimensions:narrative standpoint,narrative perspective,narrative structure and narrative language.In this way,he demonstrated that the folk narrative is the key factor for the novel to obtain'meaning'and'readability'.The book’s innovations can be summarized in the following three points:First,it reveals the interestingness of folk narratives;second,it fully reflects the systematic nature of folk narrative research;third,it reflects the author’s rethinking of the history of literature from the perspective of folk narrative and it is of great significance to'reconstructing the history of literature'.
