Legitimate expectation is a hot issue in the discussion on administrative law in the UK. Currently this discussion involves the questions of the ways in which legitimate expectations are engendered, methods of their protection, conditions for the protection of private expectations, the relationship between legitimate expectation and estoppel, and whether and how to draw on the principles of protection of trust in German and EU laws.
