20世纪20年代的上海大学,为反帝反封建的民主革命作出了很大的贡献。上海大学师生创办了许多期刊,包括《上海大学周刊》、《孤星》、《中山主义》、《湘锋》等10余种。这些自办期刊作为第一手资料,如实地记录了当时上海大学的情况,形象地反映了当时师生的思想。上海大学所办期刊发表的文章多含政治倾向,揭示了当时最重要的危机来自帝国主义和反动军阀,主张国共合作与国民革命。这些主张更多与中共对时局的主张相合,说明了中共组织对这些刊物的控制与影响。而在上海大学所办刊物上发表的文学性文章则体现出上海大学青年深受当时社会思潮的影响,并反过来助推这些思潮的涌动。

Shanghai University contributed a lot to the demoncratic revolution against imperialism and feudalism with its more than ten kinds of periodicals,including the Weekly Journal of Shanghai University,Gu Xing,Zhongshanism,Xiangfeng,etc.These periodicals are first hand materials accurately recording what happened in Shanghai University at that time and vividly reflecting its teachers' and students' ideas.The articles in these journals are mostly politically oriented,advocating a cooperation between the Kuomingtang and the Communist Party by exposing that imperialism and reactionary warlords are the most important factors of the crisis.The advocation is consistent with that by the Communist Party,which demonstrates the manipulation and influence of the Journals by the Communist Party.The literary articles in these periodicals indicate that the students in Shanghai University are influenced by the time spirit,and meanwhile promote the development of the time spirit.
