Literary language is marked by features of a given era and idiosyncrasies of a writer. Ever since the 1980s, contemporary writers have, by exploring the formal beauty of the Chinese language, displayed their individual esthetic qualities in their writings, thus expressing their unique emotional experiences. By experimenting with the forms of the language, they have succeeded in turning literary language into significant forms.
