25 years ago on 27 th April 1994,Nelson Mandela was elected as South Africa’s first black president,ending the apartheid period.The year also marked the reborn of South African wine industry that dated back to 1659 and now in its 360 th year.Being the oldest of the New World,South Africa embraces all the best traditions of Old World wines,while still exploring New World styles.In the last two decades,South African wines have taken a quantum leap forward.
