This paper briefly discusses the theory of wavelet transform and the method of vibration analysis with wavelet packet.Wavelet analysis has a good performance of time-frequency localigation which suits transient signal detection and display.This has an important significance in condition monitoring and incipient fault diagnosis of rotating machinary.This paper gives an example of extracting weak fault feature using wavelet packet analysis.
