The amphoteric fatliquor of N-amido-ethylenediamine-β-aminoropionic acid types was synthesized by saturated fatty acid reaction with ethylenediamine and acrylic acid. The optimum synthesis condition of the two step chemical reaction were reaction temperature 80-90℃ and 100-110℃,reaction time 1h and 2h and n(fatty acid)∶n(ethylenediamine)∶n(acrylic acid)=1∶1∶1. The application experiment was carried out and the effect of the amphoteric fatliquor on the amount of hexavalent-chromium was also investigated. The structure of product was characterized by FT-IR.
