The paper gives a brief description of the implication of the rescue support system, the developments in the theory of search and the prospects for the application of the theory to rescuing buried persons from collapsed buildings; analyzes the current situation of collapsed building assessment in China, thinking that research on it should be made at an opportune moment; puts stress on discussion on building assessment and marks, considering that the methods of building assessment and marks related to rescue operation in foreign countries should be used in China for reference at present; discusses the search methods and procedures of collapsed building rescue; depicts the use of collapsed building rescue marks in foreign countries.
