Knowledge discovery based on the results of FEM was implemented using data mining technology. The general step of the data mining was discussed. The system of knowledge discovery based on the results of FEM was established, and the modules of the system of knowledge discovery and some key technologies of implementing the system were introduced. At the same time, the rough set and principal component analysis were illuminated, and an example was provided. By data mining technology, instances of CAE were extracted for optimizing the process of design as a knowledge resource, which upgrades CAE from design validation to design drive.
