The Basic Theme and Aesthetic Perception in Yu Dafu's Sad Prose

郁达夫感伤散文反映了“五四”时期已经觉醒而又脆弱的青年知识分子的普遍时代病 ,即“性的苦闷”和“生的悲哀” ,展示了他们孤寂、苦闷、凄凉、幻灭等感伤情绪与痛苦的生活经历。作者有意识地去侧重描写人的悲苦与不幸 ,着意刻画人的精神灾难和心理危机 ,从而形成了独特的审美理念。

Yu Dafu's sad prose mirrors the common feelings of the young intellectuals who are awaken but weak in character in the May, 4th period, that is, ”the depression of sex” and ”the sadness of life”. The prose also displays the young intellectuals’s ad feelings and their miserable experience of life. In his prose Yu laid great emphasis on depicting the sadness and misfortune of human beings and portraying their spiritual disaster and psychological crisis. By doing so, Yu showed his particular aesthetic perception.
