The Influence of the Confucian School of Idealist Philosophy Upon the Theories of Poetuy of the Song Dynasty

理学在宋代兴起繁盛,成为这一时代的主流思潮,它广泛而深刻地影响着宋代社会的各个方面,诗歌领域自不例外,其独特的精神内质使得宋代诗歌理论逐渐丰富,并形成了不同以往的创作理论。

The Confucian School of idealist philosophy stressed on rational thinking and the inner laws of things,which promoted the prosperity of studies in poetry. First, the Confucianists paid much attention to the instructive value of poetry. Secondly the Confucian School of idealist philosophy laid stress on tranquility,which impelled the poets to form their attitude on life accordingly. Their poems tended to be pedestrian. But this ideal state was not easy to reach, the poets had to be trained to go through a very hard creative process and mastered various poetic techniques.
