Strategies of Cross-Cultural Translation

翻译是不同民族之间跨语言、跨文化的交际活动,而跨文化因素往往是一个令译者感到棘手的问题。译者可在直译的基础上,灵活这用各种变通和补偿手段,以求在替译语读者解读原语语言符号的同时,破解原语非语言符号——文化内涵。

Translation is a kind of cross-cultural communication activity between different nationalities. Cultural gaps between the source language and the target language have always turned out to be a hard nut for translators to crack. For this reason, the translator can base his ap ach on literal translation supplemented with various methods of accommodation and compensation, with a view to not only conveying the literal meaning,but also conveying the cultural connotation of the original work. This essay makes a careful study and puts forward some corresponding countermeasures.
