This paper gives a brief account of the basic study and retrograde affection mechanism of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc, and the experimental study of such disease treated with Chinese medicine as well. It focuses on the prospects of Chinese medicine in regulating physical function, improving immunity, preventing retrograde affection of intervertebral disc, and helping restore the function of pressed nerve root.
