This paper discusses the natural environment of Hexi corridor and cause of its regression. From the study of the ralation of the growth condition of the index plant with the embedment depth of groundwater and the relation of the plant root system with the groundwater embedment depth as well as the soil moisture, this paper presents a new concept of the 'ecological equilibrium embedment depth of groundwater.'
