Through elucidating Wen Yiduo's theory of literature inclading his advocasy and criticism, this paper summarizes his thought about artistic ontology:the work of art is the self shape of artistic noumenon; the composition of the artistic noumenon includes pure form--space time form and life consciousness and realistic life and individual character; three facts pass down step by step and their relation is origin and derivatives. 'supreme purpose of art is to reach the pure condition of the shape'.
