Understanding Life Science and Attaching Importance to It

生命是地球上物质运动的最高层次，我们现在拥有的知识还远未能揭示生命的奥秘。人类生存和发展所面临的几大挑战，无不与生命科学息息相关。生命科学将在21世纪起带领自然科学和关系人类生存与发展的重大作用。应当扭转对生命科学的轻视态度，并恢复和加强生物学在基础教育中的地位。

This is a further discussion on the proposal 'Must pay great attention to life science research' Suggested by seventy one members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Three questions are expounded: (a) Whylife science will play leading role in natural science in the coming century? (b) How life science has undergonethe process of modernization? (c) Why there is underestimation on the significance of life science? The authorappeals the whole society to pay attention to life science education and research.
