He argues that the regional economic cooperation in East Asia was rather slow in progress.Facing the irresistible trend of regional grouping especially after suffering a heavy blow from the Asian Financial Crisis,all East Asian countries realized the necessity of strengthening regional economic cooperation.The establishment of sub_regional economic cooperation organizations,such as the ASEAN Free Trade Area,fully manifested the strong desire of the East Asian countries for strengthening regional cooperation.
