WANG Zengqi's short stories are distinctly characterized with description of the changes in a particular historical period and ways and customs in a particular area. He draws a vivid picture imbued with rich local colors in which the novelist sings high praises of the beauty of morality, sentiment and humanity of the Chinese people. Owing to his unique experience of life , in the course of creation the awareness of his childhood has always dominated his aesthetical ideal, and becomes an aesthetical consciousness that controls his creation.
