Between Morning and Evening is a new novel by Wang Yuewen which reflects life in the officialdom and depicts characters in the officialdom. Applying realistic methods the author portrays various distinctive fullblooded images in the officialdom, threedimensionally describing their complicated feelings and characters. GUAN Yinda is the hero of the novel. The special surrounding he places himself in and the makings of a man of letters which has accumulated in the bottom of his heart makes him search and hesitates constantly between the feelings of a man of letters and the principles of the officialdom, and continues the innate knowledge of man and the flame of justice without realizing it. 
