An Introduction to Zhang Jiao, Leader of Huangjin Rebellion

钜鹿人张角生活在东汉末年社会矛盾激化的年代,起初奉事黄老道,后来创立太平道,中平元年(184年),发动八州并起的黄巾大起义,虽然由于各种原因失败了,但却沉重地打击了东汉皇朝,使其陷入土崩瓦解的过程之中。

Zhang Jiao, a native of Julu County, lived in the last stage of the East Han Dynasty, when the social conflicts intensified greatly. He firstly embraced Huanglao Dao, and later founded Taiping Dao. In 184, he started up the Huangjin Rebellion, which overwhelmed eight counties. The rebellion was defeated later, but it stroke the East Han authority and led it to collapse. 
