Major agronomic and outcrossing characteristics of early indica restorer line 402 are introduced.Techniques of the series of combinations of 402 for stable and high yield hybrid seed production have been summarized.These techniques are as follows:proper selection of bases and safe periods of seed production;rational arrangement of the parents' seeding intervals to guarantee flowering synchronization;increase of row ratio and enhancement of field management to establish highyield group structure;scientific usage of GA3 and supplementary pollination to improve outcrossing ratio;removal of the offtypes to ensure purity of hybrid seeds.
