A Full-text Search Multimedia Materials Databank and its Design

多媒体素材库是远程教学传统资源数字化的存储媒体,实质上也是教师、学生的教学和学习资源中心。多媒体素材库必须有着强大的多媒体信息存储、检索与管理功能。以全文检索技术为核心,结合多媒体数据库技术和流媒体技术建设而成的多媒体素材库检索精度和效率非常高。

A multimedia materials databank would store digitized teaching and learning resources used in distance education. Tt could also be viewed as a resource center for teachers and students in their teaching and learning process. The design of a multimedia materials databank could utilize the following technologies: full-text search technology, multimedia databank technology and streaming media technology. The core of this system would be a full-text search and informa-lion distribution system as well as streaming media service system. The full-text search and information distribution system would comprise a full-text search server and a web-based dynamic1 automated distribution system. The server would provide the record management and full-text search functions. Using the concept of 'information channel', the server would organize the information in the databank into columns on a website. The distribution system would consist of a management control panel for the web-based dynamic automated distribution system and a web-based server extension module. This would enable the generation of dynamic webpages and avoid the procedure of changing the webpage layout when additional information is introduced. Using the Windows Media streaming media technologies, the streaming media service system would enable the uploading, storage, viewing and management of streaming media materials. After the creation of a multimedia databank, teachers and students will be able to access the databank within the campus intranet and add materials into categories directly. The system would provide two forms of search: tree-shaped directory enquiries and full-text keyword searches.
