The broadband development of INTERNET provides powerful drving force and wide space for the generation and development of streaming media technology. Streaming media technology can be widely used for all network information services such as news issuance, video on demand, electronic commerce, long-distance education, video conference. This paper discusses the concept of streaming media, technology system, and application foreground re- spectively. Because Audio/Video files are very large, and the network bandwidth is limited.it takes long time to download Audio/Video files. By streaming media. Audio/Video files can be real-time transmitted and played through server to users,and users can watch them only with several seconds delay, which shows that streaming media has obvious superiority.
