On the Restricting Mechanism of Culture Transfer in Translation

翻译不仅只是语言符号系统的转换,更是两种文化的交流与传播。在翻译过程中,译者对源语文化和目的语文化的知识必然会对其翻译产生影响,这种"一种文化对另一种文化的影响"被称为文化的"迁移"。翻译对文化的迁移受原作、翻译策略及方法、译者、语言文化差异、文化的相对地位和互动关系等多种因素的制约,形成了一个复杂的制约机制。

Translation is not only the transformation of linguistic system of semiotics but the spreading of cultures as well. In the process of translation, translator's cultural knowledge about both source and target languages exerts influence on this process. That influence exerted by one culture on another through the medium of translation is called 'transfer'. The exertion of transfer is restricted by many factors: original works, translation strategies and methods, translator, differences between cultures, comparative positions and interactive relations of cultures, which forms a complicated and interlinked restricting mechanism.
