There are great changes in Chinese health care market. It's critical for hospitals' survival to understand health care situation, further to formulate strategy and cultivate core competencies. With analyzing the healthcare situation, the authors describe the practice of Beijing Tongren Hospital in developing core competencies, which are knowledge and innovation. It points that we should unify research & education which drive hospital development, and hospital which facilitates research & education. The practice achieves success.
