邓小平对社会主义本质的思考,遵循了马克思主义哲学的方法论,即实事求是的唯物论、矛盾共性和个性的辩证法、历史主义原则、世界历史方法、辩证否定的思维方法、社会主义基本矛盾理论、从政治角度看经济问题以及结构与功能的分析方法。

In the course of thinking about the socialist essence, Deng Xiaoping followed the methodology of Marxist philosophy . It includes materialism of seeking truth from facts, dialecdcal relation between the general and specific characters of contradiction, historical principles, the theory of world history, the dialectical negation, the thought of the socialist fundamental contraction, the point of observing economy from politics, and the analyzing method of relation between structure and function.
