Li Hongzhang and famous Guo Songtao

李鸿章在晚清政治舞台上显赫一时,是中国近代化的奠基人之一。而郭嵩焘则是一名羽扇纶巾的儒士,但二人却相知良深,私谊笃厚。郭嵩焘是李鸿章的洋务高参,李鸿章则是郭嵩焘政治生命的保护人。

Li Hongzhang,one of the founders of China’s modernization,was once renowned on the political stage of the late Qing dynasty which Guo Songtao was only a Confucian scholar.But they were well acquainted with each other and enjoyed a profound personal friendship.Guo Songtao was Li Hongzhang’s senior consultant in the Westernization affairs while Li Hongzhang was Guo Songtao’s political guardian.
