Suma' Book XII of 'The Biography of Genji' is the climax of story development, also the most brilliant part which is written in a style free and rich with variation. It fully embodies the characteristics of royal literature and the basic artistic features in Japanese Ping an times, and is also permeated with the typical aesthetic concept 'pathos' in Japanese literature, and is therefore regarded as finale of the novel by researchers of 'The Biography of Genji'.
