This paper reviews recent advances in research on the natural microbial enemies of Monochamus alternatus Hope.Monochanus alternatus is one of the major vectors of pine wilt disease,which has caused heavy losses to Chinese forestry since its first record in Nanjing in 1982.The effective control of the long horn beetle is critical to the integrated management of this disease.Of all the methods so far used to control this pest,pathogens demonstrate the greatest potential.In addition,the prospects of using pathogens in integrated pest management are summarized.
