美国私立大学社会责任管理的多案例研究

A Multi-Case Study of Social Responsibility Management in American Private Universities

研究选取3所具有代表性和鲜明特色的美国私立大学作为研究案例。第一个案例展示了圣路易斯华盛顿大学以可持续发展作为总体目标,培育社会责任文化,扩展社会责任影响力;第二个案例描述了塔夫茨大学作为可持续发展的先行者,设定战略性社会责任议题,应对可持续发展的挑战;第三个案例分析了凤凰城大学致力于建立具有灵活性的可持续机构,在运营方式出现失责行为导致声誉受损的情况下,及时调整发展战略,重新步入履行社会责任的正轨。研究表明,美国私立大学的社会责任实践各有特色,但其核心都是将社会责任与可持续发展作为大学的核心价值观,完善顶层理念设计,统领社会责任实践。识别其能贡献知识和专业技能的核心领域,将履行社会责任焦点集中于那些擅长的领域。社会责任与可持续发展项目融入大学的战略规划、运营、教育、科研和社会参与活动,建立社会责任执行体系和支持体系。

This paper chose three representative private American universities as cases. The first case,Washington University in St. Louis,takes sustainable development as a general objective,fosters social responsibility culture and extends the influence of SR. The second case describes Tufts University,which is a forerunner of sustainability and would like to set strategy themes of social responsibilities to meet the challenges of sustainability. The third case demonstrates that University of Phoenix is devoted to creating a flexible and sustainable higher education institution. Under the risk of reputation damage for improper operation,University of Phoenix adjusted strategies in time which lead to a right path again.These American private universities have their own features in terms of social responsibility practice,yet the common core values are diversity,inclusion and sustainability. These universities improve top-level concepts of USR,so that they can keep leading social responsibility practices. Being acquainted with their core area of knowledge and professional skills and focusing on what they do well in,the three universities integrate social responsibilities with strategic plans,organization operating,education,scientific research and social involvement activities,and at the same time establish a supporting system for undertaking social responsibilities.
