摘要
在我国中小学生睡眠普遍不足的现实背景下,文章利用中国教育追踪调查(CEPS)面板数据考察了睡眠时长对我国城乡初中生语文、数学和英语及三科总成绩的影响。研究发现,睡眠时长与初中生课业成绩间呈现倒"U"型关系。延长睡眠时间将显著提升初中生课业成绩,认知能力是此种影响的传导中介。分析表明,睡眠时长对学生课业成绩的影响存在显著的城乡差异。城市中心城区学生"睡眠成绩"弹性全面显著,乡镇农村女生成绩对睡眠时长的变化最为敏感,城乡结合部学生"睡眠成绩"弹性则表现中性。睡眠时长在学生间的异质性确实部分解释了学生学业表现的城乡差异。此外,寄宿学习模式有效抑制了学生睡眠不足现象的发生。建议采取更积极的减负措施切实保障学生足额睡眠。
Using CEPS panel data,this paper examines the effect of sleep duration on junior middle school students’academic performance in China.Students’scores on Chinese,Mathematics,and English are tested,and the total scores of three courses are examined separately.We find that there is an invert'U'curve between students’sleep duration and their academic performance.Regression results indicate that,students’academic performance improves when they spend more minutes on sleep,and cognitive ability is the key intermediary factor.Notably,there are significant urban-rural regional differentials.The'sleep-score'elasticity is entirely significant for central city students,but insignificant for urban fringe students,whereas rural girls are the most sensitive group to the variations of sleep time.In addition,boarding school students are markedly suffering less sleep insufficiency,as their daily time allocation is supervised strictly.Recommendations are made to guarantee students’adequate sleep.
