On the Implication and Connotations of Buddhism Ritual in Chinese Buddhism

礼仪是中国传统文化的瑰宝。汉传佛教同样重视礼仪,汉传佛教礼仪一方面来自佛教本身的戒律仪规,有古代印度社会风俗的痕迹;另一方面佛教仪式也有着深刻的宗教内涵和时代背景,体现出重要的宗教功能,在佛教徒的修行生活中起着非常重要的作用;佛门礼仪也是佛教徒信仰生活的重要体现,是僧团联系信徒的重要渠道,是提高佛教徒凝聚力的源泉。

Ritual is a treasure of traditional Chinese culture,and Chinese Buddhism also attaches great importance to the ritual.On the one hand the Chinese Buddhism ritual with the traces of ancient Indian social customs has its ritual precept,and on the other hand it plays a very important role in Buddhist monastic life with profound religious connotation and historical background as well as the important religious functions.Buddhism ritual is an important manifestation of the Buddhist religious life,the important channel for Sangha to contact believers and the source of Buddhists to improve cohesion.
