In terms of narratology and stylistics, this article sets out to intertextually discuss two short novels of Ango Sakaguchi,a famous Mulaiha writer in Japan, One Woman and the War and its companion volume, and thereby explore the'subtext'that has been covered by the representation. In the narrative, the writer observes the woman from the angle of the man; and on the other hand,he focuses on the war from the viewpoint of the woman so as to express the extremity experienced by individuals both physically and psychologically in the war. After thoroughly analyzing the forms of the novels, this article puts forward beyond the texts a further contextual discussion on the details that may otherwise be easily neglected so as to comprehensively confirm the critical attitude towards the war on the part of the writer.
