从人类文明的角度看,西方的战争文学着重表现了文明与野蛮的冲突。从英雄崇拜到强烈反战,这一过程既反映了西方战争文学的思想演变轨迹,也体现了二十世纪战争文学的两种对立倾向。文学艺术家对战争的认识过程,也是人类自身的进步过程。

War is the eternal theme of Western literature. From the perspectives of human civilization, western war literature mainly presents the conflicts between civilization and barbarianism from hero worshipping to strong opposition against war. This process not only reflects the change in thought of western war literature, but also embodies two opposing tendencies in war literature in the twentieth century. The process of understanding war by the writers is the process of human progress itself. 
