Under the educgtion of his father,Ma Duanlin's attainmens in history was great. He completed the “General Study on Documents',a book about the history of ancint Chinese decrees and regulations, which was old in style but new in contents.The book had a careful selection of matenals and was rich in accurate historical facts. It also had an orderly arrangement of ideas and brilliant exposition. The purpose of this book was to find out ways to administrate a country,including ways to develop agriculture,ease the burden of faxes and corvees,help the poor and make innovations,which was also the core of Ma's administrative thought.The wide usa of comparison in this book was key to it's success.
