摘要
王统照是五四时期译介外国文学的重要作家.他根据当时绝大部分中国读者对外国文学知之甚少的状况,对欧美重要作家作品予以简要介绍,为中国读者了解西方文学起到引路作用.他以西方现实主义优秀作品为榜样,反对僵死的与生活严重脱节的旧文学.他以外国批评家的理论来解决新文学运动中所遇到的实际问题.他不仅翻译了许多外国作家的小说、诗歌,而且从中汲取营养,丰富了自己的作品.
Wang Tongzhao, a significant writen and translator in May-fourth-Movement period, introduced briefly important European and American writers and literatures to Chinese readers who knew little about foreign literature.
