Any language bears a set of cultural connotations.A figurative expression is a vigorous technique of expression in human languages.In the long course of history,varied and colourful figurative expressions have been created and accumulated in Russian and Chinese,However owing to the differences of associations resulting from the respective national characteristics of the two languages,Russian and Chinese figurative expressions have become a major barrier in the teaching and learning of foreign languages.Therefore,it is necessary to study the national characteristics of Russian and Chinese figurative expressions and clarify their respective cultural connotations.It is of great significance for the teaching and learning of foreign languages.
