摘要
随着外语教学对语言社会性要求及社会对外语学习者综合素质要求的不断提高,在英语专业教学中,目前广泛采用的精读教材已日显不足。在暂时不便更换教材的情况下,发挥教师的主观能动性,以教材为基础,通过多媒体手段的运用,导入文化背景,补充名篇名段,开展对社会现象和社会问题的讨论,适当补充翻译练习等,能拓展教材内容,并对其局限性起到一定的弥补作用。
The growing higher social demands for the languages and higher demands for the learners to have comprehensive qualities show the need for the improvement of the prevailing Intensive Reading teaching materials for English majors. Teachers' subjective initiative should be given full play and some effective measures should be taken to expand the materials and to remedy their defects, such as using multi-media, introducing cultural background, complementing celebrated passages and paragraphs, raising discussions over social phenomena and social problems, and supplementing translation assignments as well.
