Although the 'Dao' and its 'Fan' and 'Fu' in Book of Changes and Laozi are similar not only in expressions but in connotations as well, there are some differences in them. The 'Dao' in Laozi is 'a point', which is the cause of reproduction, but the 'Dao' in Book of Changes is 'a circle', which is what is reproduced. Similarly, the 'Dao' in Laozi is 'water', and that of Book of Changes means water too. 'Fan' and 'Fu' in Book of Changes are synonyms, but they are antonyms in Laozi.
