成仿吾是创造社的主要干将和文艺评论方面的代表人物。留日期间,他借助"日本之桥",通过对西方浪漫主义文学的摄取、输入与移植,形成了重视写实与抒情,以文学改变社会为宗旨的浪漫主义文学理论,并为创造社的发展做出了巨大贡献。

Cheng Fangwu, as a leading member of Chuangzao Association, is an outstanding literary critic. While he was studying in Japan, he studied, imported and transplanted ranmanticist literature from the West with Japan as a bridge. As a result, his romatic literary theory, which places emphasis on the truthful description of reality and the expression of personal emotions and which assumes that the role of literature is to change society, evolved. As a consequence, he made great contributions to the development of Chuangzao Association.
