Parallelism is one of the rhetorical devices successfully used by Sima Qian in his masterpiece Records of the Historian. No one could rival him in the skillful use of parellel constructions both in terms of great number and variety, which undoubtedly helps a lot in the forming of the anthor's extraordinary writting style that can be described with the following four words: impressiveness, profoundness, elegance and forcefulness.
