The application of oppositeness in translation

反义关系是一种极为普遍的语言现象 ,反义词在自然语言中有非常高的共现频率。研究反义关系及反义词在自然语言中的作用 ,不仅具有理论意义 ,而且具有特别重要的实践意义 ,尤其是可以作为一种重要的语境线索为翻译工作者在翻译实践中处理由多义词造成的歧义问题时提供可靠的语言信息 ,从而准确的选择词义。

Oppositeness is a common and very natural phenomenon in languages and the frequency of the cooccurrences of lexical opposites in natural languages is extremely high. The study of oppositeness can give us highlights on the treatment of translation, i.e. it can be used as an important context clue and provide the translator with valuable input in the decision-making process involved in resolving those ambiguity-related translation problems caused by polysemous words.
