论某些英语动物名词的零复数

On the Zero Plural of Some Animal Names

英语动物名词中一部分没有数的标记形式,传统上把他们归为单复数同形的名词。这些名词大部分为野生动物和鱼类名词,它们既然没有数的标记形式,也就没有数的语法范畴,而是零复数名词。以认知语言学的观点分析,这些零复数的英语动物名词的产生与动物生活习性以及人类生活的地理环境有密切关系。

In English, some animal names don't have their marked forms of the number. Traditionally, they are regarded as nouns with the same singular and Plural forms. Most of them are those of wild animals and fish, while this paper regards them as those of zero plural. On the basis of the theory of cognitive linguistics, this paper analyses and states the cognitive process of the zero plural of some animal names.
