In the fierce economic and political rivalry between USA and Japan in China in 1920' s, both sides made all efforts to cripple each other and to control the central Chinese government. During the Chinese Civil War, the USA took time to support and control the Chiang Kai-shek government and finally won the rivalry. This article argues that the rivalry is inevitable due to the conflicts of interest between the countries.
