摘要
阐发是指说出作者不曾说但会说的。只有知道作者都说了什么,说的是什么,才能设想作者会说什么。无论怎样努力把经典阐释得有意思、有意义,都是严格受到文本限制的。解释的可能性蕴含在作品之中。深刻的作品无论有多么重要的当下现实意义,它都不自限于此。由于其深刻,它可以在不同的情境中具有意义、得到有意义的阐发。时空间隔、阅读者对作品的间距,产生出一种积极的作用,使作品从某种特定的阅读中解放出来,使作品之为独立的作品这一点彰显。
A work of art or of thought is significant independent of its contemporary setting and therefore provides possibilities of a different reading for an interpreter in another timeframe. The time and space between the work and the interpreter play an active role in that they free the work from being read in a way tightly bound to its contemporary reference. The interpreter expounds what the author did not but would have said. Only by knowing what the author said can the interpreter predict what the author was going to say. No matter how interesting or insightful an interpretation may be, it is always text-bound.
