中国古典诗歌的审美意象及英译问题探析

Reflection on the Aesthetic Imagery of Classical Chinese Poems and Their English Translation

“意象”和“意境”是中国古典诗歌的灵魂,也是古诗的审美评价标准。本文从中国古典诗歌的这一本质特征出发,探讨汉诗英译过程中诗意的转换问题,认为用英语进行“再创造”,重现原诗的意象或意境,是汉诗英译的关键所在。为了达到这一目的,就要从根本上提高译者的诗学修养、语言水平和跨文化交际能力,从而实现“诗人译诗”或“以诗译诗”。

Imagery and artistic conception function as the soul of classical Chinese poems as well as the standard for aesthetic appraisement. In terms of the unique features of classical Chinese poetry, the paper discusses the conversion of meaning and poetic flavor in translation and holds that it is the crux of 'reproducing the poems' in the target language so as to bring forth again the imagery and artistic conception of the source poem. In order to achieve this, it is vital for the translators to refine their poetics accomplishments, language skills and intercultural communication competence so as to attain the goal of 'letting the poet translate poems' or 'only from the perspective of the poem itself, can a perfect translation of the poetry be achieved,' thereby translating the poem by means of the poem.
