交际能力这一概念越来越受到人们的关注。交际教学法自70年代末引入我国以来，已在我国外语教学界产生了广泛的影响，我国学者对交际语言教学进行了许多探讨。 本文介绍了交际能力理论的形成，交际教学法的特点及其在大学英语教学中的应用。

Hymes is the first to use the term of communicative competence and after that this concept has attracted more attention of linguists and others. Communicative approach has exerted profound influence in our country. This essay introduces the theory of communicative competence, the characteristics of communicative approach and its application to college English teaching in China.
