This paper discusses the construction meth od of heavy duty steel beams in the Living Things Building of Peking University. I t illustrates that people can carry and construct the heavy duty steel beam by u sing simple tools in the case of no way to use a crane. The segment making, car rying and splicing, deciding on construction scheme, as well as integral hoistin g of steel beams are included.
