摘要
语言与思维的关系是语言学、语言哲学以及认知科学领域的一个重要理论问题。本文经过对许多汉英互译文本作了一定量化的分析比较,并考察了学界关于汉英两种语言与思维关系的一些论断,发现某些观点值得商榷,提出异议。本文初步的结论是,汉语并没有对中国人的思维方式造成很大的影响,特别是并没有影响中国人抽象思维的能力。
The relation between language and thinking is an important theoretical issue in the fields of linguistics, linguistic philosophy as well as cognitive science. Based on a quantitative and comparative analysis of large numbers of Chinese-English translations, and a survey of the views in the academic field on this issue, the author finds that some of the views are open to question, hence a disagreement. The tentative conclusion of the essay is that, as opposed to the traditional views, the Chinese language does not significantly affect the mode of thinking of the Chinese, especially their ability of abstraction.
