基于实证研究的科技新词的认知与翻译

Cognition and Translating Terms of Science and Technology:With Evidence from Empirical Studies

本文以实验的方式意在揭示汉语为母语的被试对科技新事物的认知和定名的方式,进而探讨翻译活动该如何顺从汉语读者的认知行为来确定译文。实验发现人们在认知同一事物的时候存在视点的差异从而导致命名差异,译者不可"照词译文"。文章还结合认知语言学关于认知视角和注意力论述对实验结果进行论述,提出译者可以适当转移认知视点来重新认知事物并以新的认知视点进行文字转换,达到顺"认知之道"而行,进而优化译文。

This study is based on an experiment designed to explore the cognitive modes of the subjects of Chinese native speakers regarding understanding new objects as well as the approaches they adopt in naming them. The findings are construed from the perspective of cognitive focus which is based on the spectrum of cognitive approaches and attention study in cognitive linguistics. It is pointed out that the cognitive focuses may vary among Chinese and English speakers regarding their understanding and naming of a same object and translator may deploy a changed cognitive focus,in order to follow the'cognitive passage'and to better their translations.
